Update on street lights outages in Alberton

I promise to keep the residents informed should there be further delays.

This is a report on the situation with all street lights outages in Alberton which has been of great concern to me.
In my discussions with the department, the following info was revealed.

The contract for this service expired. The new financial year started July 1 and the contract is now in the process of being extended and is at the adjudication stage. The department is confident that by next week the contractors will begin with all street light repairs but they are asking the residents to bear with them as there is a very long list of outages to be attended to.

Some of the delays with electricity faults were also caused by the lockdown and officials at the depot tested positive for Covid-19 and in quarantine. As some of you are aware, Swartkoppies depot was closed for a few days.

I promise to keep the residents informed should there be further delays
