A huge thank you to Dr Bouwer

Not only did he arrive to assist our Labrador, he even helped to break down the wall.

It is with the deepest of gratitude that we wish to thank Dr Neil Bouwer, Hennie Alberts Veterinary Clinic, for his help to save our precious Labrador, Jesse.

On October 4, I heard the most unearthly, loud, noise. When I went to investigate I found Jesse with her head wedged in-between a garden wall and the garage wall. She was panicking and struggling to get out, and managed to get herself in worse trouble trying to pull herself free. She was in severe distress and pain. If she carried on struggling she would have broken her neck.

Our neighbour Johan came to see if he could assist in any way and stayed with us while I sat with the dog and talked to her to keep her calm. My husband made a desperate call to Hennie Alberts Veterinary Clinic and asked Dr Bouwer to come urgently. He arrived not long after. Dr Bouwer was excellent. He gave her a sedative, and not only did he keep on talking to her, calming and reassuring Jesse (he covered her face with a towel too), he also assisted in breaking down the wall, in a very awkward, narrow space behind the garage, getting his clothes quite dirty, I might add.

My husband, our neighbour, and Dr Bouwer got a section of the wall down, and Neil gave Jesse an anti-sedative and stayed to check if she recovered and waited to see if she’s okay. He even washed the dirt off her tongue.

A huge thank you Dr Bouwer, you are incredible. And thank you, Sharon, for handling the telephone call at the Hennie Alberts Veterinary Clinic so efficiently. (011 867 3705)

Thank you for your help too Johan, and your worker.
