Silwerkroon tired of bad service delivery

"It’s disgusting."

I am writing this letter because I, as a resident of Silwerkroon, can no longer stand these terrible conditions.

We are still without the use of the lift and this is from May last year!

Many of the taps and toilets in our units leak, roofs have leaks, plaster is falling off, windows are broken and the hallways and windows are filthy.

Some of the light switches in our homes don’t work.

Toilets at the entrance are broken and unsafe and there is no toilet paper unless the “VIPs” come visit to hold meetings and do their cheap talking where they make promises they have no intention of keeping and of course never do.

Our hall looks like a storage room instead of like in glorious previous years where there were beautiful tables and chairs where people got together to read, chat, sew, etc.

The City of Ekurhuleni spent millions of rands on installing big, ugly steel boxes everywhere, that were supposedly meant to save electricity, but there has been absolutely no difference to our power bills whatsoever.

With all that money they could have done so much, but instead, they plead corruption and do things like this that benefit nobody except themselves and their family members they award the tenders to.

It’s disgusting.

The workers get a salary, but I have yet to see any of them actually do any work, so again, tax-payers are having to pay for people just hanging around for a few hours and then going home early.

The “caretaker” is hardly ever seen and makes all kinds of promises just to get rid of you and then just evades you forever.

He spends hours “drinking coffee” at certain people and himself and the workers sit inside a cozy room on the roof and when it’s winter they put on the stove for heat.

They remain out of sight until it’s time for them to go home at around 2pm, often earlier.

On Fridays around 11am already and are constantly on their cellphones when they are meant to be working.

I would like to remain anonymous because they mark you if you bring these things to light and make your life hell.

If there is anyone out there who can give us some legal advice on how we can get things working as they should and for these people to take responsibility and actually work for the massive salaries they earn, please contact the Alberton RECORD in the form of a letter.

Thank you.

Sick and tired Silwerkroon resident

The RECORD contacted the City of Ekurhuleni for comment, but they did not respond by the time of going to print.
