Tekkie Tax wishes everyone a happy festive season

May you have a great time with family and friends.

I can’t believe that this is my final email for the year to you. It is silly season, time to rest.

If you have been part of the 2017 Tekkie Tax Campaign, I again want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! We raised a beautiful R8 239 625-million with the help of 264 NGOs, 661 companies and our phenomenal media partners. It has been an amazing year of collaboration, synergy, enthusiasm, hard work and most of all, fun! Thank you for being part of my universe. You definitely added value to my life through your involvement in the campaign.

All the money that you helped us to raise were distributed to the beneficiary NGOs. 2017 has been a backbreaker for many people, companies and NGOs. I cannot help but to take a moment and think of those companies and NGOs that had to close doors due to challenging circumstances. All of us suffered a loss in some way. For some it was a loss to death and for others loss to life. The problem with loss is not really the “letting go” part … it is the “learning to live without” part that is the real challenge.

And now we are going to do it all over again. Tekkie Tax 2018 has gone all international and May 25, 2018 will be known as International Tekkie Tax Day! Whoop-whoop! It is going to be all about leaving a little sparkle! We are going to super-size Tekkie Tax 2018.

Make sure you get our beautiful T-shirts and Tekkie Tag shoelaces early in January. They are all “bling-y”. Magic! Get the word out there, wear your sparkle. Spread the love and change a life forever.

The Tekkie Tax office will be closed from December 15, 2017 and re-opens on January 8, 2018. The girls need a rest. Greater things are yet to come!

But for now I am going on leave and before I do, I would love to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, filled with wonder, magic, love, laughter and peace. May you have a great time with family and friends. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Ciao from me and my Tekkies.

Germa Hattingh – national campaign manager.
