Resident concerned over serious water leak

Why do I have to pay for a reported water leakage?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to have a valve replaced by the council that is wasting massive amounts of water.

After numerous emails and unanswered phone calls, I eventually received a reference number.

I have left so many messages on Twitter that I could easily fill up a page, yet I get no response.

They encourage the public to use Twitter to log faults, yet in vain! The meter is under water but I have received a statement for July, so how did the council read the meter?

Why do I have to pay for a reported water leakage? The fire hydrants do not have water, the result being that those poor people lost everything to a fire.

I am trying to save our precious supply of water! The depth of the water is 300mm but is now overflowing the actual hole so how much water has really been wasted? Our rainy season has not yet arrived and the council will remind us all to be water wise as our dams are already showing a decline! How do we abide by rules if the council ignores our requests to repair their property? I am unable to have this fixed myself as the quote is rather substantial and the council will not reimburse me for the work done, nor should I have to. I am thus left with a fight on my hands that is unnecessary and frustrating! The sewage truck has been down our street three times in the past week, yet no sign of the water repair department!
