Thanks for the great team effort

Last week I had an incident in Clicks, Mall of the South, where a couple tried to steal my wallet out of my bag. Luckily an employee at Clicks, Ndumiso, saw what happened.

I would like to thank the staff at Clicks and the security at Mall of the South for their friendly and efficient help.

Last week I had an incident in Clicks, Mall of the South, where a couple tried to steal my wallet out of my bag. Luckily an employee at Clicks, Ndumiso, saw what happened. He got my attention and asked me to please go to the pharmacist at the back as she needs to speak to me. In doing this, unbeknown to me, he stopped the couple behind me from reaching into my bag. I followed him away from them. He warned me about the danger and asked me to be more careful. I thanked him, left and went to Pizza Hut and there was the same couple who had been in Clicks. I put in my order and walked to Pick n Pay Clothing, and when I went to the till to pay for the goods I’d purchased, once again I saw the same couple outside.

At this stage I was quite certain that they were indeed following me and that I was not being paranoid. To cut a long story short, everywhere I went they followed me, even when I went back to the Pizza Hut to collect my order. I saw a security guard in front of Pizza Hut and decided I’d ask him to escort me back to my car. He was very friendly and told me Ndumiso from Clicks had informed the mall’s security to be on the lookout for me and the couple who were following me. Another security guard, Thuli, was asked to stay with me while Ndumiso and mall security went in search of the couple, who had disappeared.

Apparently they hadn’t placed an order in Pizza Hut but had just asked for a menu and stood outside the shop.

Thuli and another security guard escorted me to my car, only leaving once I was on my way out.

To Ndumiso, Thulie and all her co-workers, thank you so much for your kind assistance. This was an awful experience. However, with their very kind assistance, no harm was done. I shudder to think what might have happened had Ndumiso not concerned himself with my well-being.

I think shoppers need to be aware at all times and keep their personal possessions close to them.
