ALBERTON- On Wednesday, June 10, as I was shopping in the Pick n Pay at the Lemon Tree Shopping Centre, I was approached by a man at the bread counter asking me about bread.
Unbeknownst to me, a pickpocket at my side unzipped my handbag and took my purse with all my credit cards and R600 in cash inside it. My reason for writing to the Alberton RECORD is to warn my fellow shoppers to be vigilant and to avoid starting a conversation with a stranger or strangers. Make sure your purse is in a safe place.

Response from Pick n Pay Lemon Tree Shopping Centre management:
In a situation like this we always do everything possible to assist the customer. We do have security available on the floor of the store and CCTV cameras which are monitored all the time. With this said, it remains imperative for the customer to also take care of their belongings.
