We pay more for less

More rate payers will probably feel the same, the large increased tariffs for assessment rates, electricity, water and sanitation and refuse removal.

ALBERTON – Referring to the article in the Alberton Record, dated June 3, 2015. I was really perturbed to note, and many more rate payers will probably feel the same, the large increased tariffs for assessment rates, electricity, water and sanitation and refuse removal.

All well above the inflation rate. Government complain when the masses demand increases above the inflation rate but what does the municipality, a puppet of the government do? Increase their costs by percentages well above inflation just to make their back pockets bigger.

Then we have office bearers who brag about the fact that Ekurhuleni remains the most affordable metro in the country. Yes, it may be slightly cheaper, but there is no service delivery that goes with it. Just have a look at the state of the roads, the road markings, the pavements and the mess next to the islands in the centre of the roads. And what about the bridge over Swartkoppies Road? Being in the same state for years. What does councillor Neil Diamond have to say about this?

But once again the rate payers must pay more for less service delivery.

What a shame that the rate payers, and especially the pensioners, must pay more and more for lack of service and assistance from our local municipality.

Food for thought. Brackendowns
