Maureen Ansett – gone but not forgotten

I am truly blessed and proud to have had her guidance for short of 29 years. To call her mom…

To every single community member, I wish to say this: It has been just over six months since the passing of my mother, Maureen Ansett. Every now and then my father and I stumble upon an article in the paper still mentioning her.

What a legacy Maureen has left behind! There is nothing she wouldn’t do – she gave of her time, her efforts and her resources freely. Very few people did not know this phenomenal lady. She was and still is an inspiration to many.

The lives she touched and the work she did for the community leaves me lost for words. Broken Wings Association for Adults with Disabilities, Brackenhurst Library Club, all the work in Meyersdal for years, the personal help given to individuals – you name it, she was there.

The calls received at all hours of the day and night were always answered. The long and late council meetings and the hours spent assisting everyone, was the epitome of dedication.

A project very close to her heart was Jackson Dam and because of this, we as a family put a bench there in remembrance of her – Maureen’s happy place.

I am truly blessed and proud to have had her guidance for short of 29 years. To call her mom…

I wish to thank you for the kind words over the past few months. It’s nice to know she is still thought of, and I’m very sure that if she could bark orders from heaven, especially during the elections – she would have. She is fondly remembered and missed by family and friends.

Many thanks!
