Drug addictions are difficult

Reader shares in the feelings of a man's drug addictions.

I too am a recovering addict and I have been clean for the past six months, this was also very difficult for me as my drug of choice was a very difficult substance to let go of.

Yet I got through it with the support of my family and the NA rooms and I have found a new way of life. I was in rehab myself for three months and I was using from 2006, and I’m only 22 today, but by the grace of God and the programme I am clean today and have never felt better.

I lost my son due to my addiction and his mom refuses to let me be a part of his life so I am well aware of how drugs can and will destroy one’s life.

These days, however, I live one sober day at a time and God too plays a huge role in it, they say in our days of active addiction we were spiritually bankrupt, never have I heard a more honest saying.

Addiction is a disease and recovery is only possible once you can completely admit defeat accept your an addict and surrender completely to God and to the programme. It only works if you work it.
