Tribute to a brother

You were ever willing to lend a helping hand....

The tragic accident on that fateful Saturday September 7, which claimed your life haunts me day and night.

We may not have been related by blood, but the bond we shared goes beyond the ties of any bloodline. We have shared and cherished so many precious memories together yet these seem too little when compared to the memories that we could have still made together

You were the heart and soul of any gathering, vibrant and filled with an exuberant energy which we all longed to have. You have accomplished great feats in your short but well-lived life and more importantly you taught us to soldier on. You were ever willing to lend a helping hand. I am heartbroken that my big brother didn’t even get to see me drive or even hear me finally make it on the radio.

I miss you, the pain I feel is beyond compare but I know you’re in a peaceful place. You were always a pillar of strength and a shining example of courage in all its essence. You taught me not to live with worry or regret, rather to accept and take responsibility for the choices that I made. I wish I could tell you the value of our friendship but honestly that can never be put into words, so rather let me say this, you were one in a million and someday we’ll meet again my dear brother. I would give anything to whisper just one last time how special you are to me.

Thank you for always caring and being there for Julian and me. Your philosophy in life was irrespective of the milestones that we come across in life, life goes on…yes, indeed life does go on for death shall have no dominion because you will forever live in our hearts. My condolences to the Boodhram Family. Rest well Paresh “Parakies” Boodhram (laid to rest on September 8).

Justin and Julian Govender, Brackenhurst
