The Bag Lady

Autumn fashion is coming into stores and I sense a change in the weather. I'm hoping we are not in for an early winter!

I don’t know about you but I’m feeling autumn in the air early mornings. Just a little chill, but it’s definitely there. I’m hoping it’s temporary and warmer mornings will be back before autumn actually sets in.

Seeing is believing

I recently went to Comaro View Optometrist in Comaro View Shopping Centre, Bassonia to have my eyes tested and was greeted by two very pleasant receptionists Lindi Tshabangu and Thuli Kunene.

Adrian, who did the test, was exceptionally thorough and explained every bit of the eye test to me in layman’s language, so I understood all the intricate details, which involved my eyes. It was very interesting and I learned quite a few things I didn’t know. Then he kindly assisted me in choosing the correct frames which suit my face. He was professional, friendly and made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Thumbs up for the price of the frames for both my glasses and sunglasses, very reasonable and still attractive.

Still time to shop

With Valentine’s Day still a week away, you still have time to buy a little something for your loved one.

For the woman who has everything, a Spa voucher is a lovely idea or you can directly book a couples massage – very relaxing.

Perfume or aftershave is always a winner, although quite expensive, especially for the designer upmarket fragrances which will be over R1 000.

Lingerie for the lady in your life – beautifully silky which will make any woman feel desirable. Most chain stores stock gorgeous designs and I have to say, Woolworths has really gone to town this year.

If your man is a whisky lover, buy him a special brand, wrap in black/red cellophane and tie with a ribbon. The same with gin – there are lots of new brands.

Dinner out these days is quite a treat. Don’t forget to book. Most restaurants will be full on February 14.

Want to go with the whole romantic gesture? Nothing quite beats red roses, but they’ll cost you! One rose on her pillow will also work – well for me anyway.

Lovingly made

Gorgeously packaged shortbread biscuits, beautifully iced and from only R15 for a heart on a stick, phone Marésel De Koker on 082 372 5700 to order directly, or if you wish, pop into Cherubs in the De Marionette Centre in Meyersdal. They stock her delicious biscuits. She has lots of different Valentine biscuits and all are lovingly made and decorated. Of course, I’ve already ordered mine! Perfect for the office, school friends and teachers. Give her a call and order today.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
