The Bag Lady

The rains have arrived, and some, what with the thunderstorms and hail.

Hope none of you had hail damage to your home or vehicle. I know I said I quite enjoy windy days, but enough is enough. One day last week I very nearly lost my whole outfit!

I’ve been out gift hunting again and if you have a teen or teens to buy for there’s lots of choices out there, with many gifts for under R200. Only four weeks to go… and counting!

Teen girls

Most teen females love make-up, perfume, body creams, and nail glosses, etc, and at Foschini you can buy a gorgeous gift which they will love. Choose from a beautiful cosmetic bag which includes five make-up brushes and a pocket mirror for R139.95, a gift set with three lip glosses and a key chain or a gift tin for R129.95, All about Lips, including four lip glosses, two lipsticks, two lip liners and a pocket mirror for R169.95. They also have a gift tin for nails. Such great buys!

CDs are bound to be a favourite, as are summer pjs and slippers. Revlon have perfumed body sprays, Love her Madly, for R31.95 as well as perfumed body lotion for R34.95. The two together in a Christmas gift bag will go down a treat. Costume jewellery is still popular and not too expensive.

Teen boys

Boys are not that much different to girls in many ways and most also enjoy shower and body products. Visit Clicks or Dis-Chem and see what they have. It’s cool to smell divine (yes, even for boys) and aftershave is a great gift, although some will cost more than R200. Pick a CD, pjs, sport socks and books. Make up a Christmas gift bag with a shower gel, socks and perhaps add some chocolates.

Christmas décor

@Home has the most gorgeous Christmas decorations this year and you’ll be spoilt for choice. The natural look is “big” this year with rabbits and owls made from hessian to hang from the tree, as well as beautiful baubles and angels. Other stores, such as Woolworths and Mr Price Home, also have some lovely decorative items. If you haven’t got a Christmas tree, Game sells some good buys.

Gomes Zone

Last weekend I was at the launch of Gomes Zone, upstairs at Panorama Shopping Centre. It’s a family run business and there is something to entertain all ages. Toddlers can enjoy a safe padded play area while older children can jump and bounce until they tire. For teens, there’s PlayStations and moms can relax over a cup of coffee while the kiddies play. Even dads can come along and play pool or watch some sport on TV. Parties can be catered for with special themes and the party packages include just about everything your child will desire. It’s a must visit and I promise, a child’s dream!

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop!
