The Bag Lady: Mall of the South

It was all I expected and more! Mall of the South is officially open and wow!

We arrived at 06:50 and it was already buzzing. The queue for DionWired was so long. Whoever had the patience to wait for the special they wanted, well done! I queued in the Coricraft line and was about number 15 so I qualified for the couch special, which I decided not to buy, but the young woman behind me wanted it and thought she may not stand a chance. The good news was she got it! It was wonderful to see how thrilled she was as she said, “It feels like I’ve just bought a new car”. Made our day! The mall is looking great and I’ll be back in the next few days to take a proper look around. As we left at 10:00 the traffic queues were jam-packed. What an opening day!

What’s new?

Mr Price Home is still one of the best home stores for well-priced goods and as I was browsing I saw a white artificial wood picket fence, which would be great to create a border around a garden bed or pond or even just as décor in the garden. The picket fence is about 30 centimeters in height and only R79.99 for a pack of three.

Here to stay

If you thought the duck egg blue colour had gone out of fashion you are very much mistaken. Aqua and mint green colours will also be prominent this summer. Such cool, fresh colours! If you want to buy a few accessories take a peek at: Mr Price Home – Scallop Bay cut out bin R199.99, aqua Time and Again Big Softy Towel from R49.99 and a small mint green number crate R159.99. @homelivingspace – outdoor crockery (plastic but looks just like crockery) in mint green, dinner plates R65, bowls at R59 each and mint green shopping style cooler bag R249. Woolworths – Ladies mint tekkies R199.95, light green leather pumps R250, mint green longer length wooden beads R140, aqua four in one sarong R160, duck egg blue table cloth (180x230cm) R299 or enamel bread bin R299.

My condolences

One of my biggest fans who never missed reading this column, John Curran, passed away on Monday, September 21, after a tragic freak accident. You were such an amazing man and you lived for your family. I’ll miss you. RIP.

That is for this week. Shop till you drop!
