The Bag Lady

It’s beginning to get decidedly chilly in a morning and I can see over the Easter break I’ll be getting all my winter clothes out from storage. Some will be fine for another season but after browsing the shops I have to have a few new items.

Looking good

What’s that advert – I deserve it! Well, I’ve decided I do deserve some new clothes and with this in mind went to take a look.

Most of the anchor stores, Edgars, Foschini, Truworths, Queenspark and Woolworths have some gorgeous clothing.

From what I’ve seen up to now, black, grey, red, cream and winter white are the colours for this winter and guess what, I love them all. Also tartan is coming back. Boots are also extremely “in” fashion and my favourite, high court shoes. For me, nothing beats high heels with a skirt, dress or even trousers. Heels make legs look longer and I promise you, you’ll feel far more glamorous.

Snoods are also big this season as are pashminas and gloves! Whether knitted or leather you’ll have to have a pair or two. Opaque stockings are super and will also keep you warm.

Next week I’ll have a look at the perfect wardrobe for a working woman.

Focus on Local

This week I popped into Exotique Gifts, situated on the top floor of Glenvista Shopping Centre, almost opposite the Post Office.

Run by Olwen Pentz and Fran James, Exotique Gifts specialises in crystals. If they don’t have the crystal you like they can source it for you. “We do have some of the rarer crystals too and offer an amazing variety, from Amethyst to Zincite. All our crystal rings are set in sterling silver and we also sell beautiful crystal bracelets and necklaces,” they said.

They stock a large range of esoteric goods including handmade wind chimes which have been tuned with a tuning fork. I’ve always loved wind chimes and have one in my garden but the one I listened to was beyond beautiful. It sounded like church bells. You have to pay a visit and hear for yourself, you won’t believe how amazing the sound is.

You can buy specialised incense, singing bowls (gorgeous) and Tibetan bells, which sound beautiful.

Stockists of religious artefacts, oracle cards, meditation CD’s and books, there’s something for everyone at Exotique Gifts.

If you have any unwanted silver, gold or gems, Olwen and Fran can assist you.

Olwen also gives crystal healing treatments which are non- invasive and transform the body, mind and soul in a safe, tranquil environment that will help you to increase your feeling of well-being, neutralize negativity, allowing you to live a joyful and abundant, positive life. The natural treatment can also assist with medical conditions, difficulty in sleeping, lack of energy, stress, depression, low self -esteem and dealing with loss. “Crytals have unique properties when placed on the body’s energy centres to promote self-healing,” added Olwen. Sounds fantastic to me and I’m definitely going to give it a try.

Come and visit Exotique Gifts to see what they offer or discuss your personalised healing programme with Olwen. Open Monday to Friday 09:30 to 18:00, Saturday 09:00 to 15:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 13:00. Phone 072 708 8401.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
