No sooner as this report hit was the political machine moving into place to spin this to the favour of the president, it wasn’t him it was everyone else that spent the money.
The biggest scapegoat will be his architect who according to reports went design mad and just spent money like there is no tomorrow. Of course at no time did Mr President stop to ask how much is this going to cost? To any normal person building a house it would be an obvious question worth asking. But I suppose when it’s not your money, who cares!
The other side of this is of course the public protector’s office and her amazing resolve when it comes to interpreting the law.
I must commend her; it cannot be easy to be the one who has to bring down the hammer as it were, especially in the face of your own party.
She deserves full marks to her for doing a fantastic job. If only we could bottle that and spread it all the departments. We would surely have a far superior level of service throughout.
So at the end of this we will have a tale of who did what and who didn’t and an amazing spin story with the president walking away once again. It is of course up to us to decide how long we are prepared to accept this.
