Bridge The Gap: Compliments of the Season

Neil Diamond looks forward to the year with optimism and wishes everybody the best of luck in their future.

As we start another year I want to wish all residents of Alberton a happy, prosperous and healthy New Year. May 2014 be a year of exceptional things for this community.

My wish for every member of our community is to believe in yourself and have faith in your abilities; with a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you can be successful and happy in 2014.

This is always a hopeful time as we celebrate the beginning of yet another new year. The past year was difficult for many of us and surely one of my own most challenging. I was personally thankful to bid farewell to 2013 and all that went with it.

We can look back at this year with the knowledge that although the past year was difficult, the future is always brighter. Even though our challenges were great and big, many of us had the courage and determination to rise up and meet those challenges head on, to come out stronger on the other side.

Letā€™s put the past behind us, forgive and forget, and welcome 2014 with new hope and enthusiasm. As our children return to their school day and we return to our work routine, I trust that 2014 will unfold with all that is good and promising for every member of our community.

My new yearā€™s resolution is to be the best I can be and make a real difference in the lives of those that need my help. I will work with an unwavering commitment to improve service delivery in Ekurhuleni and make a difference in Alberton to the benefit of all our residents.

Letā€™s bridge the gap to make 2014 a year of outstanding achievement through unity in our diversity. Unity in diversity must be the foundation upon which our community is built, to quote Madibaā€™s own words: ā€œLetā€™s unite beyond the barriers of race, creed, gender or class, so that we can succeed in confronting head-on, together, the challenges that face us.ā€
