Little ones celebrate World Read Aloud Day

Despite the rainy weather Castillian’s students still enjoyed a great day of snacks, books and fun.

On February 1, Junior Colleges Castillian celebrated World Read Aloud Day.

“What exactly is this day? Well this is a global effort to bring people together and connect us through our love of books,” said principal Samantha Barnard.

Kgato Amahle Zulu.

“It is a day the world has celebrated for the past thirteen years to remind us of how important sharing stories, books and a love of reading and learning is by challenging all types of communities, businesses and individuals to pick up a book and read aloud to anyone who would like to listen.”

Unathi Prince Mkwhanazi.

Castillian celebrated this great event with a school wide indoor picnic lunch and story time to feed our bodies while we feed our minds. We received amazing donations of books from our students and their families that will now fill our beautiful library for years to come. Despite the rainy weather Castillian’s students still enjoyed a great day of snacks, books and fun.
