City of Ekurhuleni does debt collection

The city urges residents and businesses with overdue accounts to make payment arrangements to avoid disconnections.

The CoE did a revenue enhancement blitz from September 20 to 26 for their industrial customers, such as factories and large companies, in Alrode, Boksburg and Thokoza to collect outstanding debt.

Altogether, authorities visited 12 properties owing the city about R1.4m. One company they visited paid R205 000 on the spot and arranged to pay its outstanding debt.

The blitz included identifying and disconnecting illegal power connections. Authorities disconnected an illegal bulk electricity supply to an informal settlement and removed water meters from companies with outstanding debt.
