The Festival of Chariots is on September 21 and 22 at the Hare Krishna Temple in Lenasia and starts at 10:30 on both days.
This festival is a celebration of love which envelops the community, marked by a conflation of colour, credence in chorus, energised dance and an infusion of multicultural splendour. This festival will mark the 25th anniversary under the ‘Silver Jubilee’ theme.
The festival is hosted in all major cities globally and is a free-entry event, inviting all to experience this surreal festival.
One can expect to experience many varieties of entertainment, such as theatrical productions performed by local and foreign artists, the legendary parade procession, soulful songs, dazzling dance performances and tantalising cuisine to delight the tastes of all, be it the spice of the East, the variety of the West or with a health focus on vegetarian food.
The kid’s corner will enchant the children while the adults enjoy the theatrical and musical performances.
The Silver Jubilee Darshan celebration will inspire the unification of cultures, families and friends. In this spirit of love, the festival continues to attract the rainbow nation’s hearts and minds.
All attendees can expect a free and secure park-and-ride shuttle service. Park at the ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple on Lenasia’s Nirvana Drive, take the shuttle to the procession and return to the ISKCON in Lenasia.
The chariot procession will start at 10:30 at Shree Lakshminarayan Mandir (Kingfisher Street) and end at about 13:30 at the Shree Rameshwar Mahadev Mandir (Rose Avenue).
Parking for the festival’s first day will be on Nirvana Road, Ext 9, Lenasia, from 14:00 to 21:00 and on day two, also on Nirvana Road, from 10:00 to 14:00.
