The sun came to play at the Dutch Reformed Church, Alberton West, New Redruth, over the weekend during the Sunset Gala fashion show.
Hosted by Alberton Women’s Club (Dameskring), the spectacular occasion featured Nadia May Bridal Couture and Carien Couture, modelled by Figures Models Alberton.
Proceeds from the event were presented to Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services’ children’s unit – the Martelise Meaker Children’s In-Patient Unit, which recently opened its doors at 12 Glen Albyn Street in Raceview.
The facility will provide specialised care and support for young patients facing life-limiting illnesses.
During the recent charity fashion show, the audience was treated to a spectacular display of fashion, creativity, and heart. Each outfit was carefully curated to display the local designers’ matchless talent and creativity.
Mrs Africa Classic 2019, Laurette Marais, also took to the stage to present an inspirational talk.
Through the fundraising event, the Alberton Women’s Club made a tangible difference to Stepping Stone.
Additionally, the organisation donated R35 000 to the entity to ensure that they continue offering palliative care to their parents.
An emotional Tersia Burger, CEO of Stepping Stone Hospice, took the stage, “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for all your support and commitment. This will help bring us closer to achieving our goal. We have a much bigger vision and goal for the children’s unit and the next phase of our project.”
She said the kind donation would be ring-fenced for the next phase of their project.
Bets Ellis of Alberton Women’s Club (Dameskring) extended her heartfelt gratitude to all parties that made the event a massive success.
“The Women’s Club (Dameskring) in partnership with Nadia May Bridal Couture and Carien Couture hosted this event to make people in Alberton aware of the Hospice and their services, and to also raise funds for them.
Although Dameskring is not a fundraising organisation we do spearhead caring projects and we decided we will show the organisation our support,” she said.
Attendees were also showered with treats as the day progressed.
