Learners to represent Alberton High in Senegal

Four girls from Alberton High will go to Senegal to represent the school in the badminton championships.

Alberton High School is proud of its four learners who qualified for the All Africa Schools Badminton 2024 Championships.

Kiara and Melinda Jaskolka, Kirsty Correia and Jade Henning will be off to Thies, Senegal, where the winners will be crowned the best school badminton team on the continent.

According to Alberton Badminton Club’s coach, Roger Howson, this is an incredible accomplishment, given that all the nation’s top badminton schools battled for a seat in this competition.

Alberton High secured its position at the coveted South African Schools Championship earlier this year by taking home the gold.

Howson is a provincial and assistant national junior coach and trains the four learners at the Alberton Badminton Club. Former player Natasha le Grange is their mentor and coach at Alberton High School.

The Alberton Badminton Club always seeks new members. If anyone wants to try the sport, call Roger on 082 873 3639.
