WATCH: Alberton bowling club was home to an anti-GBV fundraiser and awareness day

The ‘bowls day’ fundraiser combined fun activities with women’s day celebrations and an awareness campaign against gender-based violence (GBV).

To celebrate Women’s Day, the Alberton Bowling Club hosted a fundraiser and awareness campaign against gender-based violence (GBV).

The successful event saw bowlers, spectators, and families come together to show support for the anti-GBV cause.

Small business owners, Despina Kandralidis and Christian Santangelo, set-up a coffee trailer to serve attendees of the bowls day event.

The Alberton Bowling Club, in association with AMCARE and Habibi properties, managed to gather scores of people at the sports club.

The event not only raised funds for an anti-GBV cause, it also empowered local businesses by allowing them to set up stalls and trailers to showcase business owners’ goods and services.

AMCARE donated safety kits which include a whistle and pepper spray, to female attendees.

“We at AMCARE, house vulnerable people, especially victims of gender-based violence. This fundraiser will assist us in ensuring that we continue caring for those who need help the most.”

Infantino said AMCARE is planning to host another awareness campaign against GBV this Women’s Month.

Debbie Lewis and Megan Miranda set-up a health products stall and they pledged to donate 10% of the sales to to AMCARE.
