The ‘bowls day’ fundraiser combined fun activities with women’s day celebrations and an awareness campaign against gender-based violence (GBV).
To celebrate Women’s Day, the Alberton Bowling Club hosted a fundraiser and awareness campaign against gender-based violence (GBV).
The successful event saw bowlers, spectators, and families come together to show support for the anti-GBV cause.
The Alberton Bowling Club, in association with AMCARE and Habibi properties, managed to gather scores of people at the sports club.
The event not only raised funds for an anti-GBV cause, it also empowered local businesses by allowing them to set up stalls and trailers to showcase business owners’ goods and services.
AMCARE donated safety kits which include a whistle and pepper spray, to female attendees.
Marihet Infantino, AMCARE general manager, said women should feel safe enough to speak out against incidences of GBV.
