WATCH: Alberton Civic Centre hosts CoE’s Youth Legacy Awards

The award ceremony recognised and honoured excellent youth performance in the Ekurhuleni metro.

The CoE hosted the Youth Legacy Awards at the Alberton Civic Centre.

The city’s high-ranking officials, including Mayor Xhakaza, MMCs, and city manager Dr Imogen Mashazi, attended the event.

The award nominees spanned 12 categories: arts and culture, media and entertainment, business and entrepreneurship, civil society and youth activism, skills development, environment, health, justice and law, philanthropy, politics and government, science, innovation, and technology, and sports.

The Nimrod Ndebele Secondary School learners serenaded the attendees.

Xhakaza gave the keynote address, “With various opportunities, you have turned them into amazing realities. We celebrate you for that,” said Xhakaza.

“We applaud those taking part in youth development and ensuring the upliftment of the leaders of tomorrow,” he added.

The mayor also acknowledged and thanked the corporate sector for sponsoring the event.
