WATCH: Vehicle catches fire at Kromvlei Cemetery

The City of Ekurhuleni is investigating the cause of fire at Kromvlei Cemetery.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Fire Safety Division has started an investigation to find out what caused the fire at Kromvlei Cemetery on July 27.

A vehicle caught fire and burnt to ashes.

According to the spokesperson of Ekurhuleni, Zweli Dlamini, the City takes such matters seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

“It is not the policy of the City of Ekurhuleni to use fire for grass cutting or maintenance at our cemeteries. We adhere to strict protocols and safety measures to prevent such incidents and will take the necessary steps to reinforce these practices,” Zweli said.

The City appreciates individual’s understanding and cooperation as they work to resolve this matter.
