WATCH: Hiking saves troubled seniors for a day

A group of elders from Ezindala went hiking at Rietvlei Zoo Farm, with some going for a 5km walk and others going for a 10km trail on July 13.

A group of elders from Ezindala went hiking at Reitvlei Zoo Farm, with some going for a 5km walk and others going for a 10km trail on July 13.

It aimed for the seniors to open up and select any of the ladies that they trust to share their troubles at home.

Mam’Connie and Mam’Buhle of Tushiya Home Based Care Exposure NPO led the walk, with the portfolio member Nceba Dube serving as the sweeper to ensure that no one fell behind.

The day was full of fun for the elderly, even though they still had to return to their stressful homes caused by their delinquent children and grandchildren.

“I’ve always been in support of any good deeds and initiatives that benefit our communities from Naturena to Slovo Park,” said Nceba Dube, Ward 119 public safety portfolio.

“We are planning to invite social workers to professionally assist those that need assistance by offering counselling.”

Tushiya Home Based Care Exposure, an unfunded NPO, and Ward 119 Public Safety Portfolio are working tirelessly to support Ezindala.

Ezindala is a group of senior residents that exercise every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on a soccer field behind KABC Church in Naturena Ext 19.
