A seasoned Alberton SAPS officer, Captain Nhlengani Baloyi, hanged up his badge after more than three decades of dedicated service.

A respected and beloved seasoned officer, Captain Nhlengani Baloyi, hung up his badge on July 26.

After selflessly serving and keeping the Alberton community safe for at least 19 years, the men and women in blue at Alberton SAPS bid farewell to retiring officer Baloyi.

The devoted public servant joined the service 38 years ago at Katlehong SAPS, where he tirelessly worked his way up from the rank of constable and was later transferred to the Alberton station where he served as captain.

“For years I worked as a client service centre commander at the Alberton station, rendering administrative duties. I had a very good relationship with my colleagues and the community which I served. And many knew me as a kind-hearted person who was forever willing to assist,” he said.

During his time at the station, he trained and mentored several officers, sharing his wealth of experience with others.

“I was able to train some members and oversaw students, teaching them how to do police work. Now that I’m retiring, I intend to spend quality time with my family because as an officer, you are always away from your loved ones. I wish all the members at the station well,” Baloyi said.

Acting station commander Captain Morris Hlabangwana said: “For all these years, we worked very well with Baloyi. For the time that we knew him, he was always a person whom you could rely on and he will be missed dearly at the station.”
