Alberton High’s Josh January made the community and his school proud after heading to Durban on July 6 for the national finals of the competition.

Congratulations are for Josh January who claimed third place at the IIE Varsity Challenge Quiz in Sandton after having progressed to the semi-finals of the challenge.

After showing off excellence and speed during the annual challenge, he walked away with great prizes.

The Grade 11 learner said this was an incredible and remarkable achievement.

“This was an overwhelming experience and I’m very happy to have taken part in the challenge. Those who might want to try it should just have fun. They will need to have lots of knowledge and be open-minded. I’m passionate about reading, especially about animals. I believe my need for knowledge helped me,” Josh said.

He thanked the support received from his teachers as well as friends and family that contributed towards his journey.
