Residents in Alberton came out to support a fundraiser hosted at the McDonald’s on Clinton Road, which was dedicated to Luke Cleton.
This is an Alberton High leaner who survived a near-fatal motorcycle accident.
The fundraiser for the leaner who remains hospitalised coincided with the marking of Nelson Mandela Day.
Cleton has been hospitalised since May 31. His family remains hopeful about his recovery.
Roslyn van der Merwe, Cleton’s mother thanked everyone one who supported her son.
“It was heart-warming to see all the people turn up for Luke,” she said. It is unclear what exactly occurred before an injured Luke was found on the road.
McDonald’s Alberton pledged to donate 10% of all its sales from one specific point of sales for Luke Cleton, the Alberton High learner who landed in hospital after a motorcycle accident.
The fast food retailer’s senior management will do a handover of the funds to Cleton’s mother, close relatives, and family friends.
