Foundation visits SIBONG’musa Elderly Care Centre on Mandela Day

Local entities from Palm Ridge enjoyed a special Mandela Day.

The National Greening Champion, Buti Green was out in Palm Ridge near Sky City to connec with SIBONG’umusa Elderly Care Centre in commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day.

The centre once found a newborn inside a box while doing a clean-up and decided to turn the recently visited illegal dumping site into a mini garden for the community.

Buti Green was invited to do a clean-up, plant fruit trees, establish a mini food garden and donate blankets.

The Green Development Foundation went the extra mile to seek partners and sponsors, such as the South African Cities Network and the Ekurhuleni Artisans Skills College, to assist SIBONG’umusa Elderly Care Centre through their contributions to the community.

The event was a success, and Buti Green was excited to have connected communities as a helping hand to nurture nature and care for the elderly and disabled people.

At the Green Development Foundation, Mandela Month is also Nature Conservation Month, and they honoured the two with the spirit of ubuntu.
