Join PICUP Alberton for their next clean-up operation

PICUP Alberton is inviting the community of Alberton to join them on their next litter clean-up.

Following the successful launch of the PICUP Litter Friday initiative, PICUP Alberton is thrilled to announce they will be cleaning Voortrekker Road on July 5.

“We invite the entire Alberton community and local businesses to join us in this collective effort to keep our town clean and beautiful. Voortrekker Road is one of Alberton’s key arterials and its cleanliness has a direct impact on the community’s appearance and health,” said Joeleen Smit, director and co-founder of PICUP Alberton.

PICUP Alberton strives to be a shining example of what can be accomplished when the people of Alberton work together for a shared goal.

PICUP urges local businesses and residents to dedicate one hour on the first Friday of each month to pick up litter and tidy the area around their premises on Voortrekker Road.

According to Smit, this small act can make a significant difference in maintaining the beauty of Alberton town.

Here are a few ways to participate:

• Gather your employees, friends, or family and spend an hour picking up litter around Voortrekker Road. Every little bit helps.

• Encourage other businesses and community members to join the initiative. The more people involved, the greater the impact.

• Use social media to share your cleanup activities and inspire others. Tag PICUP Alberton and use the hashtag #PICUPAlberton.

“The involvement of local businesses is crucial. When businesses lead by example, they inspire the entire community to take action. By dedicating just one hour a month to this cause, businesses can make a significant contribution to reducing litter and enhancing the beauty of Voortrekker Road.”

This project not only encourages employees to live healthier lives but also reflects the company’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and community development.

PICUP Alberton thanks McDonald’s Alberton for their support in helping them raise funds for their initiatives.

Smit said: “Your contributions are instrumental in creating a better, cleaner environment for all residents and revitalising community spaces like the Alberton Dam play area.

“We extend our gratitude to all participants and supporters who help make PICUP Alberton’s initiatives possible. Together, we can make Alberton a suburb we are all proud to call home.”
