AfriForum Alberton clean-up campaign helps make a difference

AfriForum Alberton used its Renewed-Hope for Alberton project to give hope to Alberton residents who had been disappointed by the election results.

AfriForum Alberton held a clean-up on the Corner of Swartkoppies, Jacqueline, and Garfield Roads on June 1.

The clean-up was part of AfriForum’s Renewed-Hope for Alberton project, which intended to send a message of hope that no matter what happened in the elections, AfriForum will continue to build and renew what was lost.

“We decided on a clean-up and a renewal of this intersection as this used to be a main road into Alberton,” said Roxy Scholtz, the project’s co-ordinator for AfriForum Alberton Branch.

AfriForum Alberton thanks the following residents for paying it forward by lending a hand and for putting hope back into the Alberton community:

John Goodenough’s team from Taller Waller, who sponsored a team to help clean up the area; the ‘About’ Team for assisting in the clean-up; Liza van Eck from Seeff Alberton, who assisted with the landscaping of the new plants she donated; and Barbara and Phillip de Klerk for donating the plants and assisting with the landscaping and the community members that also jumped in to help.

“We want this to become a corner of hope and will continue to maintain it. AfriForum Alberton would love for everyone in Alberton who believes in ‘the change starts with us as a community’ to come join,” said Scholtz.
