Alberton Rugby Club sends its condolences to the family of the late Sandile Mthethwa who died after a short illness.

In the tight-knit community of Alberton, a sombre atmosphere has settled over the Alberton Rugby Club as they mourn the loss of one of their own.

Sandile Mthethwa, a beloved team member, recently passed away after a brief illness. He leaves a legacy of professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his sport.

Known for his exceptional skills on the field, Sandile’s teammates described him as more than just a player; he was a pillar of strength and reliability for his teammates.

His presence in the team was not only felt during games but in every training session and team gathering.

Coaches and fellow players remember him for his unparalleled dedication and the consistency he brought to the sport.

According to coach Clinton Swarts, he was a player you could always rely on. His respect for his colleagues matched his commitment to the sport. He was a true professional in every sense.

“Where do I even get the words? It is like one of my children has departed because Sandile was one of the most respectful guys I had the privilege of coaching. We shared lots of things with Sandile, and he will be forever in my heart,” Clinton said.

Clinton said Sandile was not just a teammate. He was a friend to all of them. They could always count on him to lift their spirits and lead by example.

Sandile’s journey in rugby took him to top positions within the sport, a testament to his hard work and passion.
His genuine love for the sport and the camaraderie it fostered among players matched his determination to succeed.

Beyond his athletic prowess, Sandile was known for his punctuality and respect for his commitments. Despite travelling from Germiston for practices and games, he was always on time, demonstrating his professionalism and dedication to the sport he cherished.

As the Alberton Rugby Club gathered to mourn the loss of Sandile, they also celebrated the indelible mark he left on their lives and the sport they all love.

Sandile was laid to rest in his home in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
