An excited Le-more Jannetjies, the founder and manager of the barbershop, thanked the public for their support.
YOBA is an annual event dedicated to honouring and recognising young people and the great initiatives young people venture into.

YOBA shortlists youth who are in agriculture, apparel, creative and arts, education and literature, footwear and accessories, food and beverage, hair and beauty, health and wellness, homeware, manufacturing, media, NPOs and charities, personalities and influencers, services, technology, travel and tourism, for awards.

“To everyone who supports Young Barber, you could have gone to any barbershop, but you selected Young Barber, and we are very grateful. To the voters, thank you for voting for Young Barber. It would not have been possible without you,” said Jannetjies.

Young Barbershop is child-friendly.

Young Barber hosts training sessions to improve their barbers’ cutting skills and plans a training centre to train more barbers.

“We are also recognised by Proudly South Africa, which has worked with YOBA to promote good local products and services both within the country and abroad,” added Jannetjies.

The digital crew at the barbershop posts updates about what the team is up to. They are Young Barbershop on Facebook, Young Barbershop77 on Instagram and TikTok.

Jannetjies said he believes their YOBA win has not only earned them recognition in South Africa but also on the African continent.
