Zanelle needs help to spread holiday cheer

Together, let’s support Zanelle Huyzers in making a difference and brightening the holiday season for those in need.

Zanelle Huyzers (15) from Verwoerdpark, a Hoërskool Alberton learner, has capped off an incredible 2023 by winning the Best Charity Queen Teen award at the SA Pageants Awards in Sandton.

This achievement follows her earlier success as the first princess for Miss Alberton and her role as the ambassador for Miss Excellency.

Despite her young age, Zanelle has shown an inspiring commitment to positively impacting her community.

Throughout the year, she organised and ran various charity projects aimed at helping those in need. Her initiatives included donating bags to abused women and children, providing 25 soup bottles to Solidariteit Helpende Hand, spreading love to the elderly residents of Silwerkroon on Valentine’s Day, and delivering pencil cases and hats to children at three local nursery schools.

Her compassion extended to My Huis Children’s Home, where she donated clothes and pencil cases to support the less fortunate. In a heartwarming matric project, she helped a needy matriculant attend her matric farewell, embodying the spirit of giving and kindness.

In need of assistance

Looking ahead, Zanelle is planning her final charity project for the year, a festive adventure to spread joy during the Christmas season. She aims to donate 100 small batteries for snowman and angel light ornaments. However, she needs support to make this vision a reality.

Zanelle needs batteries for these light ornaments.

“We already bought the ornaments, but need batteries – lithium cell batteries with code CR 1220, 3V. The plan is to spoil the residents of Silwerkroon for Christmas,” said Zanelle.

Those willing to contribute money to buy the batteries or those wanting to donate them can call Rika on 072 980 9835.
