Glenbrack High School rugby teams make name in the sport

In just a year of existence, Glenbrack High School takes a step back to count and celebrate their achievements. The school also appeals to locals to sponsor their rugby teams.

Glenbrack High School rugby teams keep shining brighter and have grown by leaps and bounds.

The school created a rugby team for its students late last year, providing opportunities to those who had waited for a chance to play the sport.

The teachers, Kulani Baloyi and Cwenga Mtalana, are the rugby squad’s coaches. The two have assembled boys and girls teams.

Some of Glenbrack High School’s rugby team achievements throughout the year are:

• The U18 girls concluded the season unbeaten when this rugby team joined the Golden Lions League.

• At the National Week 2023, seven girls from the school represented the Golden Lions U18 team.

• Coach Baloyi was appointed as the forwards coach of the Golden Lions U18s.

• Glenbrack High boys’ first XV won the Valke League.

• Rezonnes Maclare, a player for the boys’ squad, represented Valke at the 2023 U16 Grant Khomo Week competition.

• Ayanda Lekgema, a player on the boys’ squad, represented Valke and served as the team’s captain at this year’s U15 Iqhawe week.

• Coach Mtalana was the team manager of the Valke U15 provincial side that played in the Rhino Week.

To grow the sport at the school, Glenbrack High School is appealing to the neighbourhood businesses to sponsor their rugby team.
