MDSA pageant bestows special award on Megan

The Miss, Mr & Mrs Deaf South Africa (MDSA) recently presented Meyersdal’s Megan Holmes with a special honorary award for her contribution to society.

Alberton’s Megan Holmes is no stranger to the podium and during the Miss, Mr & Mrs Deaf South Africa’s gala event in Cape Town, she again took to the podium to accept a special award.

The MDSA pageant, aimed at highlighting the incredible people in the deaf community, presented the former South African and international titleholder with the International Achievement Award.

Megan was Ms Deaf International 2022 and best cultural attire winner (the first-ever miss to win an international title). She was also Ms Deaf South Africa 2021 winner and best personality titleholder.

She is very involved in the community and has worked closely with several charities that similarly bring direct help and awareness.

She thanked the Miss, Mr & Mrs Deaf South Africa pageant for giving her an honourable and special award.

“It’s a perfect way to almost come to the end of my reign, to do it in Cape Town – my hometown. It’s been an amazing journey, filled with learning, growing and developing both personally and professionally and I’m forever grateful,” Megan said.

She reiterated that she is proud to receive the award.

“It’s wonderful to know that the passion, dedication and courage that I show every day have been recognised. My next plan is to continue to do volunteer work. I always believe that charity is an important part of the world today, and I would like to keep inspiring others to help people in need and to teach love and compassion,” she said.
