Community members showed up in numbers to support the Alberton Tutela Market Day, hosted by Tutela Alberton in conjunction with Alberton Dutch Reformed congregations.
At least seven Dutch Reformed churches showed their support at the family event, which offered goodies and treats to locals.
According to organiser Alida Jooste, part of Tutela Alberton’s early intervention and prevention services, the event aimed to raise awareness about the services Tutela Alberton offered.
“This was the first time that we, as Tutela, hosted this specific market. We needed to get the community and the congregations to know what we do. It was partly marketing for our services and a fundraiser to fund some of our projects in this whole uncertain subsidies situation,” she explained.
She said they wanted to be as self-sustainable as possible while serving the community.
During the event, they also promoted their event in September at Kempton Park.
