WATCH: Man dies after car plunges into river in Alberton
It is understood that the driver lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road.
A man died when the car he was travelling in plunged into the river by the Engen Garage behind the Netcare hospital on Thursday.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) confirmed that the 45-year-old Indian male driver lost control of his vehicle and the vehicle fell into the river. Unfortunately, the driver died on the scene.
Reports indicate that the driver was travelling from the golf course side.

Details surrounding the accident are still unclear, but it’s understood the accident occurred around 14:00.
No injuries have been reported during the incident.
