I Matter hosts a campaign to fight against GBV

I Matter is set to host another stakeholders event on June 16 and 17 following their recent successful GBV campaign in Eden Park.

The NPO, I Matter, along with the City of Johannesburg, Ekupholeni Health and Trauma Centre, and Eden Park SAPS collaborated in a campaign to stop GBV on June 1.

The quartet focused on GBV signs and prevention initiatives. They also touched on child protection.

This initiative follows a rise in GBV cases and reports of GBV, child abuse, sexual assault and child neglect.

According to Natalie Abrahams of I Matter, these four entities work together closely to fight against GBV, hence they hosted this gathering.

“We decided to host this campaign because we wanted to educate the members of the community about how GBV starts and how it impacts both victims and their loved ones. We believe education is key to prevention and quick response. We are determined to serve our community to make it a safe space for all,” Natalie explained.

The four entities also handed out clothing to the individuals in need while treating them to a delicious hot soup and bread.

The entities are looking forward to hosting their next big Eden Park stakeholders event on June 16 and 17.
