Alberton SAPS visits Leondale High School

Learners from Leondale High School promises to be law abiding residents and promise to report any crime to the SAPS if they see one.

Members of the Alberton Police Service visited Leondale High School under the supervision of the station commander, Olven Letloenyane, on April 21.

According to Alberton SAPS’ spokesperson, captain Manare Ramotshela, the goal was to uphold authority.

He explained that some kids are prone to succumb to peer pressure, which leads to making decisions that are bad for themselves, their families, their schools and the community as a whole.

The day before their visit, there was a gathering where some celebrities tried to offer advice and counselling after it was reported that students from the previous year were caught with dagga, and smoking while in school uniform.

“The future of our children is in the hands of everyone who may have a say in how they live. To provide guidance, the parents are present. If it appears that they are beginning to misbehave, the teachers should report the student to their family because they are there to teach them,” said Ramotshela.

Learners acknowledged the police presence and told the officers that they would let them know if they learn of any crime being committed locally.
