Pensioners Friend brings bingo at the Gathering of the Beans Coffee Shop

The pair said if anyone wants to join them again on their next bingo day to contact Sharon-Ann at 083 312 5360.

The Pensioners Friend held their bingo day at the Gathering of the Beans Coffee Shop on February 28.

Errol and Sharon-Ann of Pensioners Friend said this was a time for pensioners to mingle and make new friends.
“This type of social engagement is critical for people’s well-being, regardless of age.

“Older people eventually retire from life. Not every older person is fortunate enough to live with family and many of those who do are usually alone. As a result, they lose their ability to communicate and eventually became silent. They begin to believe that they are no longer worthy of living. During events, we make every effort to bring them out.

“Such events are probably most important during a person’s senior years because older adults and the elderly are more vulnerable to social isolation than younger people.

“Furthermore, it is enjoyable and refreshing to take advantage of social opportunities that allow you to share and connect with others. It also assists you in navigating the changes that come with ageing.

“Taking care of your social well-being benefits both your mental and physical health,” the pair emphasised.

The couple said if anyone wants to join them again on their next bingo day they can contact Sharon-Ann at 083 312 5360.
