Alberton SAPS mourns passing of former station commander

Members of Alberton SAPS have paid their respects following the passing of their former station commander who was laid to rest just recently.

Condolences continue to pour in from colleagues and friends following the passing of the late Colonel Phuti Sekoma who was laid to rest on February 4.

He died following a sudden illness.

Sekoma, a former Alberton SAPS station commander, devotedly served in the force for at least 35 years. He will forever be remembered for his caring and noble nature.

In 1983 he started as a constable at Thokoza SAPS and worked tirelessly towards his career.

It was not long before his hard work and dedication caught the attention of his superiors, which led to his promotion to the rank of sergeant, warrant officer, captain and then lieutenant colonel.

Sekoma was transferred to Katlehong SAPS in 2003, where he worked in the client service centre.

As he progressed in his policing profession, he steadily worked around the clock to bust crime while putting the interests of the community first, In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of colonel and joined the Alberton SAPS family in June 2015.

He retired on January 2019, after having worked well with his colleagues and the Alberton community.
