WATCH: ‘War on potholes’ kicks off in Ward 37

Councillor Ivan Naidoo said residents should see more roads being patched and repaired across the ward.

Ward 37 Councillor, Cllr. Ivan Naidoo joined the MMC for Finance and Economic Development, Cllr. Fanyana Nkosi, the Whip of Council, Ald. Khetha Shandu and officials from the Roads and Stormwater Department in Alberton as they recently kicked off the city-wide “war on potholes” programme.

According to Ward 37 councillor Ivan Naidoo, the first phase of repairs took place on Jacoba Street to much relief. This comes as a big relief to motorists and residents who use the road on a daily basis.

“Since being elected as ward councilor, I have prioritized pothole and road repairs in the ward. Potholes pose a danger to residents, especially during the rainy season when road visibility is limited,” Naidoo said.

Naidoo said he is pleased to inform residents that a contractor has been appointed. Residents should see more roads being patched and repaired across the ward.

“As the DA, we welcome the progress being made on road repairs and it confirms the strides being made by the Multi-Party Coalition’s Back to Basics programme in improving service delivery across the City,” Naidoo said.
