More boots on the ground to curb festive season crime

Alberton SAPS commits to deploying more boots on the ground for the festive season.

In launching operation Boots on the Ground, Alberton South African Police Service says there will be more boots on the ground and that police visibility will be enhanced this festive season.

Captain Manare Ramotshela of Alberton SAPS and Colonel Olven Kelehile Letloenyane visited Kasi FM and were welcomed by Morena Mokaputene of Kasi FM on December 16.

Festive season tips were discussed and it was highlighted that there would be more members on the ground this festive season to prevent crime.

“Phone numbers of the Station commander, Vispol commander and Client Service Centre commanders numbers were shared on air with the community,” said Ramotshela.

Ramotshela said the community of sector 3 ( Leondale, Phumula and Rondebuilt) were informed of the mobile police station placed next to KFC, near the Phumula Shopping Centre. This was intended to cater for communities around.

“Plans to prevent crime during the festive season were asked, Station commander explained that all functional members of Alberton SAPS will be working within the malls,” added Ramotshela.
