Restoration time announced as repairs continue

Ward 94 councillor Samantha Nair along with the City’s officials were on the ground in light of the water supply interruptions in Alberton.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s team is busy with repairs and the bypass system has been opened and most of the lower-lying areas will reportedly start receiving water in two hours.

The announcement follows Ward 94 Clr Samantha Nair’s visit alongside Divisional Head Mbali Matiwane and manager of Water and Sanitation Hendrik Groenewald.

“The cause of the water interruption was due to vandalism where the feeder pipes to the affected areas were cut. The department has been proactive since last night to solve this problem. The most affected area is the pressure-reducing valve supply zone in Brackenhurst,” she said.

Nair said the contractor has resumed with repairs and that the estimated restoration time is 17:00.
