South Crest residents keep their park clean
South Crest residents and several volunteers braved the rainy weather to clean up a recreational park on Vlei Street on November 12.
Ahead of the festive season, a group of South Crest residents cleaned up the recreational park on Vlei Street over the weekend.
The clean-up operation saw the trimming of trees, removal of weeds and removal of litter.
Those brave enough also cleaned the river, removing debris that had plagued the stream.
The clean-up was made possible by the South Crest Residents Association, CPF and AfriForum Alberton.
According to Deidre de Carvalho, this was their first-ever clean-up and a successful one.
She said they plan to continue with more clean-ups to make the park a beautiful place for children and residents.
“The South Crest Residents Association decided to clean up the park and we put out a notice to residents, CPF and AfriForum. So many came out to offer to support the initiative. Fortunately, the council came out earlier in the week to cut the grass.”
