Locals express their dissatisfaction in Ward 37 councillor

Residents are calling for Ward 37 Clr Ivan Naidoo to step down after expressing their dissatisfaction on issues affecting residents in the area.

On behalf of Ward 37 residents, a collective from the ward is demanding effective service delivery and accountability on issues affecting residents.

This follows a ward committee report compiled by the group of concerned residents of their plights. They are also demanding the council’s urgent intervention in resolving those grievances.

Among other issues, the report sheds light on health, safety and property value concerns raised by residents of Elandshaven. Overgrown trees, the state of Alberton Dam and streetlights are also listed.

They demand a realistic plan of action from the councillor and effective communication from relevant departments.

“We as residents want to see service delivery and accountability that’s all we ask. No response is given on all the issues and not even the party leader has replied to our queries about Ward 37 Clr Ivan Naidoo. “We want a ward councillor that gets the job done, that’s a simple request,” said one of the complainants.

In light of the grievances, Naidoo reiterated that this was a ward committee report that was sent to the department for action.

“The process is that any issues not resolved are sent to the councillors who then send them to the customer relations manager to ensure the department completes the jobs. The issues raised are currently in the CRM office in Germiston. All issues raised have been escalated to the department,” he said.
