Hennie Alberts Veterinary to hold fundraiser

Please support the fundraiser on September 25 from 10:00 to 15:00.

Hennie Alberts Veterinary Clinic has recently been bought over by Dr Donna Kruger and Dr Lisa Sacchetti.

To mark this occasion, we would like to give back to less-fortunate animals living in nearby townships.

We work with two welfare organisations in our practice and help them by offering welfare rates. They rely on donations from the public and funds are always limited.

On September 25, we would like to hold a sterilisation day where we will sterilise animals, and vaccinate and deworm them. Preventative care is a passion of ours. Why wait to treat a problem when you can do something to prevent disease as well as unwanted litter?

Cause4paws Care Centre and Clinic are situated in Jackson’s Drift township, with over 33 000 residents and over 2 500 animals. When a resident permits them to sterilise their pet, they put in a kennel, blankets and a tyre with a large bowl, so the pet does not knock the water over, and a large bucket of food monthly.

Educating them on care and safety is also their main focus. They go through 2 000kg of dog food a month and around 200kg of cat food.

Rene Parker runs Cause4Paws and works with the community children (called the Pawrangers). They alert her to situations needing attention and she in turn tries to help the children where possible.

Animal Protection Network – Alberton (APN) is a registered NPO, which was established in Alberton with the assistance of the community to rescue, save and rehome unwanted and stray dogs, cats and other animals in need, one animal at a time.

They also work closely with the Thinasonke community. They bring animals in need to the nearby veterinary clinic and pay for treatments needed.

On the day, the public can support the cause by coming past between 10:00 and 15:00 to buy boerewors or prego rolls, homemade cakes or to drop off donations of food and blankets.

They can also make donations to the two welfare organisations that will be both present on the day, while the veterinarians sterilise, vaccinate and deworm the township animals.
